PICTURE PREPARATION

1. The resolution of your pictures needs to be sized to 72 dpi. That is 72 dots per inch.

More than likely pictures downloaded from your digital camera are between 180 - 300 dpi. This means that they are higher quality; higher resolution. You would use this resolution if you were making prints of the pictures.

For internet viewing, the quality needs to be lowered to 72 dpi. This can be done on any picture editing program.

2. The actual physical size of your pictures should be no more than 500 pixels in width.

Once again, more than likely your pictures downloaded from you your digital camera are between 800 - 2300 pixels in both width and height.

This is WAY to big for internet viewing, so the size needs to be reduced to no more than 500 pixel width. This can be done in any picture editing program.

3. Consider cropping your photos before resizing them. This way you can focus on the important elements of the picture.

4. Remember where you saved your pictures. Make a dedicated folder on your desktop, with sub folders arranged by product, category, or date.

5. Consider resizing large amounts of photos with a specialized photo editing program.
